The RVH Foundation received notice on July 16, 2020 from a third party data service provider, Blackbaud, of a security incident that involved stopping a ransomware attack.

The RVH Foundation uses Blackbaud’s software, also used by charities around the world, as part of its day-to-day operations for donor information.

Based on Blackbaud’s internal investigation that included consultation with law enforcement, Blackbaud has advised the RVH Foundation that the data breach was contained, the stolen data recovered and that they are actively working on implementing enhanced security measures.

Blackbaud has advised that no banking information, usernames and/or passwords were impacted by this security incident because all such data was encrypted. The data that was breached included information such as name, address, email address and donation history and activity with RVH Foundation.

We take donor privacy and data security seriously and we are currently conducting our own investigation into this matter. If there are any further developments of concern, we will keep donors apprised of key findings learned through that process. For the current time being, we have suspended use of the Blackbaud software.

If you have questions, please contact the RVH Foundation with questions.
