On Monday, October 16, 2023, Dwayne & Tanya Frans, owners of the ServiceMaster franchises in Midland, Orillia, Barrie & Collingwood announced a $250,000 collective gift to their local hospital foundations. Over the next five years, the ServiceMaster franchisees will invest annual gifts of $10,000 to Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital Foundation (OSMHF), Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation (RVHF) and Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation (CGMHF), and an annual gift of $20,000 to Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation (GBGHF). Tim Hortons® Smile Cookie Campaign Returns Monday, May 1
For the first time, the iconic Tim Hortons Smile Cookie charitable campaign will kick off in the spring, launching in Tims restaurants across Canada and the United States starting on May 1 and running through May 7.
Every year, the week-long campaign sees Tims guests purchase millions of hand-decorated Smile Cookies and 100 percent of the proceeds from each cookie are donated to support local charities and community groups that are handpicked by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. Click here to read more

Innovative Automation, a Barrie company recognized as a global leader in advanced manufacturing technologies, today announced a $1 million gift to the RVH Foundation’s Keep Life Wild campaign to support the advancement of immersive medical education at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH).
The Innovative Automation Simulation Lab at RVH will be a state-of-the-art medical education centre focused on the integration of high-fidelity manikin and virtual reality (VR) simulation technologies. A record-breaking $15 million has been raised for more than 600 local charities and community groups through the sales of Smile Cookies at Tim Hortons restaurants across Canada.

With the number of youth affected by eating disorders rising, a $600,000 donation from TD Bank Group (TD) to RVH Foundation will help Royal Victoria Regional Heath Centre (RVH) launch a new lifesaving initiative, centred on early intervention strategies, for young people struggling with this disease.
Through the support of TD, RVH will launch the Advancing Community Eating Disorders (ACED) Care Initiative, powered by TD, with the goal of reducing patient wait times through improving operational efficiencies and enhancing education for medical professionals on early intervention strategies. Over $100K raised through the 2022 RBC Race for the Kids to support youth mental health at RVH
Money from the 2022 RBC Race for the Kids will help Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) create a dedicated youth mental health care space in the emergency department.
This year, organizers say more than 600 people from Simcoe and Muskoka participated by walking, running, biking, and blading five kilometres at their own pace and space.

RVH to enhance cancer diagnosis with new, advanced PET-CT technology
Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) will soon install new, state-of-the-art medical imaging technology to enable earlier detection of some cancers.
Doug Downey, MPP for Barrie—Springwater—Oro-Medonte, along with Barrie—Innisfil MPP Andrea Khanjin, announced today the Ontario government is investing more than $1 million, enabling RVH to construct space in the health centre’s Medical Imaging department to house a positron emission tomography – computer tomography (PET-CT) scanner. Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) will fund the $2.7 million cost of the PET-CT, which is expected to be operational by the summer of 2023.

Celebrating Resident Doctors Awareness Week
It’s Resident Doctors Awareness Week (February 8 – 12), a national celebration of the vital work undertaken by resident physicians. At RVH, we’re particulary proud of the residents who come through our residency program for family doctors. Since the program began in 2009, 92 family medicine residents have completed their training at RVH, with 55 staying in the area to set up their own practices, providing temporary coverage for area physicians or work in various departments at RVH.
