An update for RVH supporters regarding COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has understandably raised concerns for all of us. As you are a valued supporter of RVH, I wanted to take the time to update you with information you may find helpful. We know our community will get through this together and trust that you will play your part by following Public Health guidelines and recommendations, including washing your hands, staying home and checking in on those who are vulnerable.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre has been and continues to respond rapidly to the COVID-19 virus.  RVH continues to follow all current direction from the Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario. You can rest assured, Team RVH is taking all necessary precautions to keep patients and staff protected. Your support in the past has helped to build the facilities and supply the equipment our team has needed to respond to this pandemic.

The situation is changing rapidly and RVH is offering constantly updated information on its home page at  This site explains how services are evolving to best respond and keep staff and patients safe including

  • guidelines for specific visitor restrictions
  • cancellation of non-urgent procedures
  • COVID-19 assessment centre hours and details
  • screening procedures

The links below will take you to additional informative, official, resources available online from external sources including an on-line self-assessment tool and common-sense preventive measures:

Federal Resources

Respecting the situation and to do our part, the RVH Foundation will cancel ourfundraising events up to the end of June, with a commitment to assess future events over the coming weeks. Meetings are being held via phone, and we’ll be calling instead of visiting donors. We ask for your patience as there may be delays in tax receipting and general correspondence. We will use our full virtual capacity to continue to carry on with our mission-critical work supporting Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and its dedicated team who are on the front-line of battling COVID-19. Our Foundation staff will be stepping in to help in other capacities at RVH or working remotely.

We appreciate your support as it has helped us to prepare for moments like this. Your support of RVH means that our exceptional team has the tools they need to care for our community. Times like this make us realize just how important that is. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at

With thanks,

Eric Dean, RVH Foundation CEO
